House Picture Needed, 226 Central Street
The house has the recessed porch which was common in Rockland for houses constructed during the 1840's and 1850's. While more frequently associated with the Greek Revival style, this porch also shows stylistic influences from the Italianate ornamentation popular in Rockland during this period. Note the house has its original six over six windows, and that the main entrance with sidelights is traditionally located the third bay in the end of the house.
HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE The early owners of this house were not recorded on Abington maps. From the 1860's to the 1880's, Louis A. Nash resided here. Nash was a shoe cutter by trade. During the early 1900's, the building belonged to the Morris family.
