Commerce, Community development, Industry, Political. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE This was the site of the home of Richmond J. Lane and his wife Sarah A. Pool form approx. 1848 thru. 1893. The present house is the second one to be built on this site. R.J. Lane and Mr. Pratt established a shoe manufacturing business in Rockland in 1880. Prior to this , Mr. Lane was the senior partner with J. Lane & Sons shoe Company. Also, he was a banker and retired from the Abington National Bank between 1885 and 1886. George W. Torry was listed as the subsequent owner of the house on the 1903 Map and Poll. Other Architectural Features: 2nd Floor balcony on North side, 1st floor bay window on South side, segmented entrance with glass panels, Bracketed entrance hood.
