Rockland Historic Commission Meeting Minutes 11 April 2002
Those members in attendance were: Peter Dow, George Dearth, Gerry Martin, John Burrows, and Steven Miller.
The meeting was called to order at 7:45 PM on Thursday April 11, 2001.
1. Minutes: The Minutes of the February 28, 2002 and March 14, 2002 meetings were read and accepted.
2. Treasurer's report:
$ 1,544.24 General Account $ 195.81 Donation Account $ 19.59 Postal and Handling $ 100.00 Receivables Due $ 1,859.64
A motion was presented and unanimously accepted to approve a payment to Mr.
DelPrett for $175.00 for the service and rental fee of one dumpster to be used and located at the "1745 House"
3. Old Business:
1745 House:
Materials to rebuild the central beam and shore up the first floor were order for delivery to the 1745 House Delivery of these materials is expected on Monday, April 14, 2002 Steve Miller will accept delivery and store items in basement of 1745 House A letter will be sent to
Dorminique DelPrett for the solicitation of funds for donation to the 1745 House. This letter will be used as the template for donation solicitations.
Work will begin when John Rogers returns from vacation
Web Site:
The web site hosting has been transferred to Polyactive . Gerry is in the process of updating and developing the information for the new site
RHC Sign: No update
DAR Plaque:
DAR interested in donating plaque Next meeting on Saturday, April 12, 2002. No RHC members available to attend.
The Commission will seek representation and the next meeting The dedication site should not be an issue. Peter Youl of the Park Commission will be contacted to review and validate, Dick
Sergeant and Kathleen Stuart will also be contacted for site review.
125th Time Capsule:
Waiting on information on GAR from Tim Woodward A motion was presented and unanimously accepted to donate one 125th Anniversary Coin to the 125th Committee
Plymouth County Convention and Visitors Bureau:
Paula Fisher of the Bureau contacted Paul for membership information Fee to join is $150.00 which includes promotional and support activities from the bureau The Bureau will include House tour on calendar. Peter will provide details about the event A motion was presented and unanimously accepted to set the date for the house tour on the Saturday, December 14,2002. Letters to solicit support and homes for the tour will be sent in August.
Ellis Family Burial Ground:
Peter will get an update from Kevin Sealy on the status of the site and path to the site
4. New Business:
345 Webster Street:
Michael Dunford requested an inquiry regarding the history of the house, owner and occupants The house in not on the survey There isn't any significant written history on the house and its occupants
5. Correspondences:
Jack Franney, memo on new accounting system Norwell Historical Society, March Newsletter Letter from Ric Gay, First Congregational Church o Letter stating grateful acknowledgement of the Commissions support and activities of the opening of the "Century Box" o Items from the box will be displayed at the library when a means to present them becomes available
6. Open Forum:
Massachusetts Preservation Projects Fund o Solicitation Letter to Bob Nyman, House of Representatives o RHC will review Fund Application
