Rockland Historic Commission Meeting Minutes 19 December 2002
Those members in attendance were: Peter Dow; Gerry Martin, Tim Woodward, and George Dearth (Associate).
1. The meeting was called to order at 7: 15 PM.
2. Minutes: The Minutes of the 5 December 2002 were approved.
3. Treasurer's report: None
3. Old Business:
A. RHC Holiday Tom Review:
-Discussed all aspects of the event and suggestions for improvement next year .
-Good responses for the GAR tours, as well as the Springhettis and Hollands. RHC donated 2 arrangements to the families in appreciation for their efforts.
-Reviewed finances: net income was $304 for RHC and $42 for GAR.
-Resolved to:
-work more closely with PRIDE group and coordinate earlier on the date to coincide with the stroll.
-look at using the new Sons of Italy hall as the central area for refreshments and ticket sales -secure commitments from John Binney, the Donovan estate owners; and also
homeowner on on Liberty Street -( and others ) earlier -arrange use of trolley -Put flyers in all mailboxes at Town Hall and distribute at the schools
B Weeb Site www.historicrockland.com:
-Hits to the site now at 2085: looks like slight increase likely due to tour publicity and additional links/sites adding our name (ehistory.com) - Rocklandnews.com named www.historicrockland
.org as the ..Best Rockland Website.'.
-2 more inquiries in the guestbook. Jerry and Pete will review guestbook periodically and respond accordingly.
-K of C expressed interest in a website, with the possibility that, for a donation, RHC could provide host services on our server. Polyactive would need to boost our space. Jerry will review
further and get more details.
C. RHC Sign (Hin2ham and Webster St) -At the most recent K of C meeting, they would like to improve current sign plans: both sides, and made
of wood (not composite materials).
Curent price tag of $950 will likely become approx $2000, but K of C is willing to cover.
Jerry will coordinate discussion with Park Dept and Rockland Gardens to make sure this change is agreeable to all.

4. New Business:
A. Inquiry from Wesley Mcphee -
Received an inquiry asking if RHC would like some old deeds from l770-l800s from property in the E Water St. area. Peter will follow up with him.
B. 2003 Meeting Schedule -RHC approved the 2003 meeting schedule. Peter will forward to BOS and Town Clerks office.
C. L002 Annual Report - The RHC annual report is due on January 15. Peter will work on rough draft for the members to review at the next meeting.
