Rockland Historic Commission Meeting Minutes 22 May 2003
Those members in attendance were: Peter Dow, Jerry M~ Tim Woodward, and George Dearth (Associate).
1. The meeting was called to order at 7:09 PM.
2. Minutes: The Minutes of the 24 April 2003 were approved.
3. Treasurer's report:

4. Old Business:
A. 1745 House UOOate -John Rogers has regretfully "resigned" as a major volunteer worker on the 1745 House reconstruction due to medical conditions. He returned his keys to Jerry. Many thanks to John for his outstanding contributions and dedication to restoring the
structural integrity to the House.
-Jerry and his son will visit the House shortly and inspect the windows.
Replacement windows would be best: if not, windows will need to be reframed.
- The Delprete dumpster will remain next to the House until further notice.
The Delprete donation to the 1745 House effort is providing the dumpster at a discount and for an extended time period.
B=Web Site www .historicrockland.com Update -3629 hits thus far.
-Due to space issues, Jerry will remove photos and make them available upon request. We can apply a watercolor trace to prevent the unauthorized use of the photos.
- Tim has recent photos of South Union St. houses that are part of the horn€ survey. These can be posted on the website to accompany the historical profiles.
-Jerry set up 4 email addresses for Town Hall access, and will be visiting/training with personnel.
l;. RHC ~ Sign (Hingham and Webster St) -Jerry informed us that the sign is ready to be placed on the intersection. s island. If all goes well. posted will be installed on Saturday, May 23.
-As discussed previously. the Park Dept. (peter Ewell) approved of the placement of the sign in January 2003.
-As a courtesy, RHC will notify the Board of Selectmen and Town Administrator about the sign. Peter will ask Brad Plante to put us on the agenda for the next BOS meeting on 612/03.
- We will focus on publicity after the sign is up.
-Mass Sign wants to sponsor a half barrel of flowers on the island as well.
D. DAR/Jones Plaque -The re-dedication will take place on 9120103. There will be a ceremony and reception at the GAR afterward. Times and speakers to be
determine< in coordination with the DAR.
-Invitations will be sent to allloca1 newspapers and Town officials. We will try to get a publicity

-RHC will need to get a second plaque to be placed be1ow the OAR plaque. This smaller plaque will indicate the original location and rededication date.
5. New Business:
A. Annua1 Appointments -Jerry has re-submitted his application for another 3 year
term: given John's medical condition, he will not re-apply at this time. Tim will remain a member as long as he is still a resident. Thus as of now, the current RHC membership is: Peter Dow, Jerry Martin, Tim Woodward, and Lori Fair (quorum is 3). Upcoming appointments by the BOS will be at the 612/03 meeting.
