To all Rockland Residents:
1745 House on Goddard Ave., and the capsule will be
buried in front of the historic 1882 stone watering trough.
This occasion represents another opportunity to
celebrate Rockland’s rich history and provide future generations
of Rockland residents a glimpse into our lives as we entered the
21st century. The capsule will contain numerous artifacts, including
essays, newspapers, photos, coins, and an annual Town Report. A
complete list of the capsule’s contents will be available at the
burial ceremony.
The Rockland Historical Commission would like to
thank the following donors for their generosity, without which this
event would not be possible:
-Magoun Biggins Funeral Home (Union St): donation of
time capsule vault
-Rockland Cement Block Co. (Centre St): donation of
stone marker
-Lenny DiBona (West Water St): engraver of the stone
marker
-Dominic Delprete (Concord St): excavation services
The 125th Anniversary Time Capsule will be unearthed
and opened around March 9, 2049 so that the youth who participated
may enjoy their contributions 50 years later. The Rockland
Historical Commission looks forward to seeing you on October 5th!

The time capsule will be unearthed and opened on March 9, 2049 as Rockland celebrates its
125' Anniversary . This burial location is in front of the historic 1882 stone watering
trough According to the Saturday, September 30, 1882 Rockland Standard, "A new stone watering trough, bearing the legend '.1882:' and looking as though it might outlast many generations, has been placed at the town pump on Union Street, near the residence of Warren Lane."
